For today's Take 2 picture we're using this shot from a senior session last year. There's not really much to say about this one. I actually liked the first full color version and it was presented to the customer. It wasn't until the other day did I even think that a Black and White high key version would be cool as well. I had originally tried to amp up the color in the tattoos as much as possible but I really like the contrast of the Black and White much better.
Here are both versions:

Amanda's Family was over today.
We had a great time today during the family session today. Amanda, Jamey, Luke, and Jasmyn all came to the studio and let us photograph them doing what they do. Talk about a photogenic family... The kids were so good I didn't even get my signature "crying baby" shot I love so much because little Jasmyn would have non of that crying stuff. Luke was absolutely the most well behaved little guy we've had in our studio. With him on the job everything went so smoothly. Here are some shots from the session. Enjoy.

Take 2, Monday March 24, 2008
For today's take 2 picture, our second installment, I chose a shot of Rene. This is from an early session we took of Rene and her sister Alisha. The original shot is one that we chose to give to her as a proof. There is nothing wrong with this shot, in my opinion. It's just not one that gives you that wow factor. With this shot I made very quick and easy changes that any of our customers could ask for. We don't charge any more for this type of change. Often I even include numerous different color variations of the same shot in the proofs for our clients. If you look at the before and after versions I think you'll agree that after the color changes were made the result is a much more unique and exciting photograph. So with no more delay, I present Rene in our second Take 2 installment:

Ok I'm gonna try something. I'll call it Take 2
I saw another photographer/blogger who was doing this and it made me want to try. I'm going to experiment with this for a while and see what I can churn out. Every Monday (well the ones I remember anyway) I'm going to dig through my unused images and try to find one that I over looked the first time. Kind of a diamond in the rough sort of theme. I'll look at it with a fresh perspective and see what I get. I'll post the before (straight out of the camera) version and the after (fresh perspective) version. My hope is that I not only get some cool images that would have otherwise been lost, but that I also keep myself trying new techniques and fresh methods. It's pretty easy to get stuck in a rut when your customers always ask for things similar to what they have seen you produce already. I'm pretty excited and hopefully you all (man I can't believe how many of you there are) will find it pretty interesting.
Ok so Take 2, Take 1:
The first image I've selected is of Emily. She is a beautiful young woman who will be graduating this year. Her mother is a friend of my wife and she sent her daughters to us for one of our very first shoots. This image was taken on the back wall of our house in less than ideal light. At first glance you can see that the lighting is not what I would typically choose for such a beautiful subject like Emily. That is why this image didn't make the cut the first time. I found it the other day as I was doing some browsing of old images. It immediately stood out as one I could make into something pretty cool.

I'm gonna miss this age, aren't I?
So we were at home last night just in our normal Monday night routine when Bree came to me dressed like this and asked if I wanted to go into the studio and "get some pretty pictures." Who could resist? Not me. So we went out side and here is one of the shots "we" got.

A Reel Sevier Day
My cousins Angie Reel, Missy Sevier, and Amy Day (get the title now...I'm creative see?) brought their families over a while back and we got some family stuff and stuff of the kids individually. Some of you might recognize little Katie as she has been in a few posts on the blog. She's the little one with the cake for her first birthday. Well any way to get the family discount you have to wait a little longer for your pictures than the normal customer and Angie has been on my for a while now to get these things done. While I have quite a way to go before I'm finished here are a few from the session mainly to get Angie off my back..... :)

Another day of family fun...Part II
For our second shoot of the day we got to shoot Payton and Alivia. These kids did a good job and had plenty of fun too. We ran them through the paces and got the shots we wanted. My buddy Peyton helped me keep everything under control and get the shoot wrapped up in double time. Here is a taste of the captures from the day.
Another day of family fun...Part I
Theckla, Kinley, and Kade came over today and we shot some family shots as well as some solo stuff of the kids. As usually we pushed these little ones just about as far as they would let us. We had a good time and of course captured some great moments of these little ones. Thanks for coming over guys....here are some of the shots we're working on.

John's Senior Session.
John's mother called us the other day and scheduled a last minute senior session. I think John was hoping to win out with his idea of a disposable camera shoot and avoid an actual session with a photographer. Any way we had a good couple of hours during out time with John. He's a really nice kid with some cool and interesting hobbies. We had some studio firsts: a snowboard, bloody hands, a bowstaff, and a 3 shirt shoot. We ran him through the paces pretty quickly and we wish that we would have had more time to work with John (I had some really cool ideas I was hoping to try out). In the end all is well and the images we captured are nothing less than what our customers have come to expect. I think John and his family will love what we have for them. Here is a small sample of what is on its way.
